23rd Annual Shoot for the Magic Benefits Youth Mentoring
The 23rd annual Shoot for the Magic sporting clays competition was held June 5th at Warriors Mark Wingshooting Lodge & Kennels in Ginter, raising over $40,000 for Children’s Aid Society’s Youth Mentoring program.
Throughout the competition, 21 teams of four shooters navigated a challenging clays course and enjoyed a day filled with games of chance, a live auction, awards and great food.
Since its inception the annual event has raised over $690,775! We couldn’t do this every year without the continued support of our sponsors, donors, and volunteers who spend multiple hours planning and those who come out to support us the day of the event. Many teams, sponsors and volunteers have been involved for 23 years!
Plans are underway for next year’s event, scheduled for June 4, 2027. For information on how to get involved or to learn more about Children’s Aid Society or Youth Mentoring please email info@childaid.org or call 814-765-2686 .
Gun Raffle winners were: Winchester SXP 12GA Pump Shotgun – Thomas Yeager; Ruger Max 9 Compact 9MM – Corey McCracken; Weatherby Obsidian Vanguard Rifle – Alan Robison; Savage 301 Turkey Gun – Kelly Shaw; Heritage Rough Rider Single Action Revolver – Ricky Clark. ABOUT YOUTH MENTORING
Children’s Aid Society has been serving our community through mentoring for over 36 years. Youth Mentoring provides adult mentors for children in need in our community and high school mentors for elementary students through our school-based program. Mentors spend purposeful time with youth focusing on helping them grow in all aspects of their lives. Supporting this program is cost-effective for our community and yields significant positive impacts on the youth served!
We have found that youth matched in the program are:
-
less likely to start negative habits such as using drugs or drinking.
-
more likely to be more successful academically and behaviorally in school.
-
more likely to build trusting relationships with other people such as family members and friends.
The cost to serve one child through Youth Mentoring is $3,766.
In 2025 Youth Mentoring served 56 children in Clearfield County.
