Children’s Aid Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that depends on grants and donations to help pay for services and to cover costs not covered through fundraising and fees.
There are many ways to donate to our programs.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Match Sponsorship
One of our major areas of donations is Big Brothers Big Sisters Match Sponsorships at $700 for 2008.
The 2007 match sponsorships provided the following opportunities for children and volunteers in the program:
- horseback trail riding
- fly fishing
- attending an Altoona Curve game
- picnicking and all day riding at Lakemont Park
- kayaking & canoeing at Curwensville Lake
All of this plus the most important part of the program-a volunteer who is simply there for the child! Match sponsorships
also provided resources for the professional staff to screen and train volunteers to ensure child safety and… support the matches with frequent
and consistent contact.
Bequests/Memorials
The following planned giving ideas were taken from the website of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. There are several other ways to leave a legacy with a monetary gift.
FACT: Seven out of ten people in the U.S. will die without a will. These folks have incorrectly assumed that the state will make all the right choices with their assets.
Depending on the state in which you live, you may be unpleasantly surprised. Whether one chooses to make a planned gift to this or any other charity, the
state shouldn’t decide what to do with our hard-earned assets.
Below are just a few ways to make a planned gift;
- A bequest is a gift, made at death via a will or a codicil,
which can be changed and/or amended during the life of the individual. If a
donor wants to make provision for Children’s Aid Society (or any charity) a
bequest allows a lot of flexibility. A donor can leave a specific amount to
their favorite charity (ies) or decide to leave a percentage after they have
taken care of family or other individuals. The suggested language below may be
used if a donor decides to include Children’s Aid Society in a bequest:
I devise and bequeath the sum of _______ ($______) Dollars (or percentage of
my estate) to Children’s Aid Society, located at 1008 South Second Street,
Clearfield, PA, 16830.
-
IRA (or qualified pension funds) can be subject to combined
estate and income taxes (depending on where you live after the death of the
surviving spouse) of 80%. A donor can very simply make a charitable planned gift
by naming Children’s Aid Society (or any charity) as a beneficiary after their
spouse. These funds will never pass through the estate and the charity will
receive the entire residual amount without taxation.
- Employer provided insurance might not be a source of funds
a donor feels their family will need because perhaps they already have
sufficient insurance to cover their family’s needs. One can very simply add or
change the name of the beneficiary to include Children’s Aid Society. Again
this procedure is simple, as it only requires the donor to request this form
from their personal or their company’s insurance provider. This makes another
excellent and “smart” planned gift.
Children’s Aid Society
accepts memorial donations in the name of your friends or family members.
