School-Based Program
School-Based Mentoring helps put the sparkle back in the eye of youth, throughout the school year. The mentors are volunteers who donate two hours per week in an elementary school.
Currently, we provide School-Based Mentoring in Wasson Elementary School in the DuBois Area School District.
Purpose:
The School-Based Mentoring program of Big Brothers Big Sisters strengthens and supports a stable family foundation. High school mentors, elementary students and their parents are united in the goal of prevention of problem behaviors.
What to Expect:
Each child in the program is matched to a high school volunteer or adult. All sessions are designed to be interesting, informative, helpful and fun! All contact between students is conducted on school property and professional staff is available in all sessions to offer direction.School-Based Mentoring Group Activities:
