Big Brothers Big Sisters
Community-Based Program
In the community-based program, adult volunteers provide special friendship and support. The program works because of caring volunteers who make time for a child who needs them. Children ages 7-12 years are accepted to the community-based program. We serve children in need from single-parent, dual-parent or grand-parenting families. In our community program, a Big Brother/Big Sister gets to share activities with a child that they both enjoy! That might include fishing, playing board games, baking cookies or going to ball games. They get to enjoy these fun times two times a month with a Little Brother or Little Sister, on their own schedule. Big Brothers Big Sisters staff offers matches a variety of support. Staff talk with the big, little and little's parents once a month for a year. Then, every three months after the first year. Monthly match outings are also offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff, and periodically, throughout the year Bigs' Night Out is held by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff.
